Pune Ring Road News: Fast-Tracked Work, Angry Residents, Big Changes Coming

Alright, so you wanna know what’s up with the Pune Ring Road? Buckle up—there’s a lot going down. The whole thing’s a ₹42,000-crore monster project, and it’s finally picking up real steam. Most of the land deals? Done. Construction? You can actually see it happening in spots like Khadakwasla, Chakan, Mulshi, Hinjewadi, and Sortapwadi. They’ve split the job into east and west loops, and—get this—the whole ring’s gonna be eight lanes wide. Not messing around.

They’re aiming to wrap this up in, like, 30 months. That’s the plan, anyway. Already, nine big stretches are buzzing with work. If you drive by, it’s dust, trucks, and chaos—classic infrastructure mayhem.

Land Grab: Almost at the Finish Line

So, land acquisition—a total pain, always. But in this case, it’s almost sorted. Western side? 99% done. Eastern? 98%. That’s over 1,700 hectares cleared. The last stubborn bits should (maybe) get sorted by year-end. Folks still holding out for better compensation are supposed to get sweeter deals and help moving out, but, you know, let’s see if that actually happens.

Tathawade: Where People Are, Uh, Not Happy

Here’s the spicy part: Tathawade. New alignment plan dropped, and the local housing societies are fuming. They’re worried about losing parks, access roads, you name it. Can’t really blame them. They’ve asked for a pause and a rethink. And honestly, they’re not alone—other neighborhoods are also complaining about noise, being forced out, and random changes in what’s allowed to be built where. Officials say they’re “listening.” Uh-huh.

Zoom Zoom: High-Speed Perks & Safety Stuff

The road’s gonna be fast—120 km/h speed limit. We’re talking flyovers, tunnels, viaducts—the works. All to keep traffic moving and (in theory) not wreck the environment too much. There’ll be smart traffic lights, emergency lanes, and separate paths for trucks and service vehicles. The thing will tie together the big highways—Mumbai, Nashik, Solapur, Ahmednagar—so, yeah, it’ll be a total game-changer for anyone who drives across Maharashtra.

Property Gold Rush

Here’s where it gets wild. The ring road is already jacking up real estate prices in places like Wagholi, Chandkhed, and Bhor. Builders and big companies are practically drooling over the new corridor—warehouses, logistics hubs, schools, business parks—all in the pipeline. If you own land near the route, congrats: you’re probably sitting on a gold mine.

What’s Next?

Up next: finish grabbing the rest of the land, kick off full-throttle building on the sections that are still lagging, and start putting up the actual structure—retaining walls, culverts, the lot. If they stay on schedule (fingers crossed), the ribbon-cutting happens by late 2027. There are monthly check-ins now to (supposedly) keep everything on track and handle any new drama.
